When the product organization is the constraint.
Fractional and interim product leadership for companies that need senior judgment now, not a permanent hire they cannot yet define. Engagements run from a 90-day diagnostic to a two-to-three-day-a-week CPO seat.
Signals it is time
- Roadmaps are full and nothing lands; the team is busy and the product is not moving.
- You hired senior PMs but no one owns the operating model they work inside.
- Engineering and product disagree about what "done" means, every sprint.
- AI is in the strategy deck and nowhere in production.
- A product leader just left, and the next hire is four months out.
- PE ownership wants a product thesis that survives diligence.
What the work looks like
- Diagnostic (4–6 weeks). Interviews, artifact review, delivery data. You get a written read on the operating model, the team topology and the three things to fix first.
- Fractional CPO (ongoing). Two to three days a week inside the org: planning cadence, hiring support, executive alignment, and the decisions that need a senior owner.
- Interim leadership. A defined window — a departure, an acquisition, a launch — with a clean handoff to the permanent hire.
How it runs
- 1. Call. Thirty minutes on the situation. No deck.
- 2. Scope. A one-page plan: the problem, the access needed, the timeline, the fee.
- 3. Engagement. Weekly working sessions with the team, written decisions, no status theater.
- 4. Exit. Every engagement ends with the org able to run without it.
Evidence from operating seats
- Unified three Optum apps into one React Native platform for 13M members; roughly $5M a year off the run-rate and 40% faster feature delivery.
- Shipped an in-house Voice AI receptionist at Symplast to $1.2M ARR across 3,500+ practices, then led the migration that added 50% mobile capacity.
- Built AI load matching at Truckstop: +35% recommendation accuracy, −18% empty miles, $3.5M first-year revenue in the Spanish market.
Who this fits
Series A through D software companies, PE-backed platforms, and healthcare or SaaS businesses where product has become the bottleneck. Usually 15 to 150 people in product and engineering, with a founder or GM who wants a senior partner rather than a consultancy.
Who this does not fit
Companies looking for a slide deck, a 40-page maturity assessment, or someone to manage the roadmap by proxy. This is operating work with your team in the room.
Fees are retainer-based and scoped after the call. Advisory clients get first access to search capacity.
